The use of compost before maturity

After a few months of feeding the compost box, a little compost can be taken and used as a nutritious mulch.

Mulch protects the soil surface from erosion, settlement, drying out, overheating in summer, frost in winter. The effects of mulching are also the maintenance of good humidity in summer and the limitation of weeds.

If this immature compost is poured on the soil of the plants, it will serve as fertilizer for them by turning into ripe compost in a few weeks. Allow a maximum of eight weeks for a plant watered once a week.

Mulching has the same function as leaf litter in the forest, under which a life abounds that, little by little, turns the leaves into humus. You can reproduce this mechanism. With mulch all year round, you help to enrich the soil.
